Presentation of Jesus at the Temple

Since IX century, on the Feast of Presentation, the faithful bring to church sacred candles to be blessed and then used for the rest of the year. 

The name of these candles is derived from the word thunder (grom). “Thunder candles” were usually lit and placed in the windows of homes during severe thunderstorms as people prayed to Mary for protection against the destructive powers of lightnings. The Liturgy concentrates on Jesus - as “the Light of the World”

Holy Masses at St. Joseph’s Church will be celebrated at 7:30 am in English and 7:00 pm in Polish.
